You have done your research. You know what batana is, you know how to tell the real thing from a blend, and maybe you have already tested a sample. Now you need to buy it in volume, on time, with the right paperwork. This guide is for that moment.
To buy batana oil wholesale, decide your package size (1-gallon, 5-gallon or 55-gallon), send a quote request with your volume, destination and intended use, confirm price, shipping term and lead time, pay the invoice to the company’s account, and receive your oil with its export documents. With us, the minimum order is one gallon, lead times run 7 to 20 days depending on quantity, and we ship worldwide under EXW, FOB or DAP.
Below, every step in detail, plus a checklist for comparing quotes from different suppliers.
Step 1: Choose the right package size
Batana is sold by volume. These are the three sizes we pack:
| Size | Volume | Packaging | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 gallon | About 3.8 liters | Sealed container | First orders, formulation trials, small batches |
| 5 gallons | 19 liters | Sealed HDPE bucket | Salons, small private label runs |
| 55 gallons | 240 liters | Sealed drum | Production batches, distributors, contract manufacturers |
A few guidelines:
- New to batana? Start with one gallon or a paid sample. It is enough to build and test prototypes.
- Selling already, with modest volume? Buckets are easy to store, lift and dispense.
- Producing at scale or distributing? Barrels give you the lowest cost per liter and fewer containers to handle.
- Mixed needs? You can combine sizes in one order, for example barrels for production and gallons for your lab.
Step 2: Request a quote with the right details
The faster your supplier understands your needs, the faster and more accurate the quote. Include:
- Your name, company and country.
- Estimated volume, even if it is a range.
- Package size or sizes.
- Intended use: cosmetic brand, private label, salon, distributor or contract manufacturer.
- Destination (city and country) and whether you have a freight forwarder.
- Preferred shipping term if you know it (EXW, FOB or DAP).
- Whether you want a sample first.
You can send all of this through our quote form. We answer with pricing, availability and lead time within three business days, in English or Spanish.

Step 3: Understand the shipping terms
Shipping terms (Incoterms) decide who pays for what and where responsibility changes hands. We offer three:
| Term | What we do | What you do | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|
| EXW (Ex Works) | Have the goods packed and ready for collection | Arrange pickup, export clearance, freight, insurance and import | Buyers with their own forwarder in Honduras |
| FOB (Free On Board) | Deliver the goods to the port of export, cleared for export | Pay main freight, insurance and import | Buyers who manage ocean freight themselves |
| DAP (Delivered At Place) | Deliver to your named place | Pay import duties and taxes and handle customs clearance | Buyers who want a simpler, door-to-door style purchase |
If you are unsure, tell us where you are and how you usually receive goods. We will suggest the term that keeps things simple for you.
Step 4: Confirm lead time
Batana is made by hand from wild palms in La Mosquitia, and it travels by river and road before it is packed. That is why lead time depends on quantity:
- Typical lead time: 7 to 20 days.
- Smaller orders usually ship faster; multi-barrel orders take longer.
- For regular production, plan your reorders around your usage so you never run out.
We confirm a firm date with your quote. If your launch has a deadline, tell us at the start.
Step 5: Pay safely
Payment is where many buyers take unnecessary risks. Protect yourself:
- Invoices should come from a legal entity, not an individual.
- Pay only into an account held in the company’s legal name.
- Check that the company is registered. We are Herbal Communities Honduras S. de R.L., registered in Honduras, and Herbal Communities LLC, registered in the United States.
- Keep everything in writing: quote, invoice, shipping term and delivery date.
Our invoices are issued by our legal entity, and you pay to a U.S. dollar bank account held in the company’s legal name.
Step 6: Receive your documents and your oil
Each export shipment from Honduras includes:
- Commercial invoice
- Packing list
- Phytosanitary certificate
Share these with your customs broker or freight forwarder before the goods arrive. If your country requires anything else for a cosmetic raw material, ask us early and we will tell you what we can provide.
When the oil arrives:
- Inspect the containers for damage and intact seals, and photograph the pallet before you unwrap it.
- Check the quantity against the packing list.
- Store it sealed, in a cool, dry place out of direct sun.
- Do not worry about texture. Batana firms up in the cold and softens in heat; it may look different from your sample for that reason alone.
- Record batch numbers and keep a small retained sample of each delivery.
From the field. Buckets and barrels leave Honduras palletized and strapped for the trip. The oil inside has already traveled a long way, from the rainforest by boat and road. Everything we do at packing time is about making sure it reaches you exactly as it left La Mosquitia.
How to compare wholesale batana quotes
When you have quotes from more than one supplier, compare them on the same basis:
- Landed cost per liter. Price per gallon plus freight and import costs to your door. A cheap EXW price can become expensive once freight is added.
- Product truth. INCI name (Elaeis Oleifera Kernel Oil), origin (La Mosquitia, Honduras), raw or refined.
- Documents. Will you receive an invoice, packing list and phytosanitary certificate?
- Minimum order and sizes. Can you start small and scale?
- Lead time. Is it confirmed in writing?
- Who you are dealing with. A registered company at the source, or a reseller several steps away?
- Samples. Can you test before you commit?

Planning a steady supply
Once your product is selling, the goal changes from “buy batana” to “never run out of batana.” A simple plan helps:
- Know your monthly usage. Track how many liters you use per month, including test batches and losses.
- Add the lead time. If you use one bucket a month and lead time can reach 20 days, reorder while you still have at least a month of stock.
- Keep a safety stock. Natural products can face delays: weather in La Mosquitia, holidays, port congestion. One extra month of stock is cheap insurance.
- Share your forecast with us. If you expect to grow, for example ahead of a launch or the holiday season, tell us early. It helps us plan purchases at the source.
- Move up in size as you grow. When buckets become frequent, barrels usually lower your cost per liter and your handling time.
Buying as a distributor
If you plan to resell batana to brands, salons or shops in your country, a few extra points matter:
- Origin documents help you answer your own customers’ questions. Keep copies of the export documents for each lot.
- Lot traceability. Record which of your customers received oil from which lot.
- Repacking. If you repack barrels into smaller containers, do it in a clean area with clean, dry equipment, and label each container with the INCI name and lot.
- Claims discipline. Your marketing counts too. Describe the ingredient and its traditional use, not medical results.
We are happy to talk about recurring volumes with distributors. Mention it in your quote request.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Buying a full barrel before testing. Start with a gallon or a sample.
- Comparing prices without freight. Always compare landed cost.
- Ignoring texture changes. Firm batana in winter is normal, not a defect.
- Copying online claims onto your label. Hair growth claims turn a cosmetic into a drug in the eyes of regulators like the FDA.
- Paying into personal accounts. Only pay a registered company, into an account in its name.
- Ordering at the last minute. Batana is handmade; plan around lead time.
